Lavette

Dr. Lavette Shirley Elee is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant (PA) with a wealth of experience spanning back to her certification in 2012. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Kent State University and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Kettering College of Medical Arts. In December 2020, she completed her Doctor of Science in PA Studies.

Dr. Elee has dedicated much of her career to serving high-risk communities in North Carolina. While primarily working in urgent care, she also has experience in primary care and psychiatry. Passionate about shaping future leaders in healthcare, she has taken on the role of assistant professor at Wingate University's PA program.

​

In her teaching role, she covers a range of subjects including Women's Health, Endocrinology, Dermatology (co-teaching), and Clinical Medicine facilitation. She serves as the interprofessional education champion for the PA Program and is the founding chair of the DEI committee at Wingate's PA program. Additionally, she holds the position of Director at Large for the North Carolina Academy of PAs and serves as the Director of Medical Affairs for the non-profit organization, Daughters of Empowerment Alliance.

Dr. Elee is dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive healthcare community through education, training, and mentorship. Her goal is to ensure that every voice and contribution is valued and respected. She is particularly passionate about women's health and strives to bridge the gap with historically marginalized community members.

​

Her commitment to service stems from her experience witnessing poorer outcomes in marginalized groups during her years as a medical provider. Additionally, personal experiences with close friends and family members battling breast cancer have fueled her desire to educate the community about women's health issues.

 

​Dr. Elee is the mother of two boys, Za’kari and Zion. She enjoys singing karaoke, traveling, and kickboxing in her free time.  She believes that life is what you make of it, and if you put positive vibes into the world, they will be returned 100-fold.
