However, life had other plans for Shardell.  In 2020, she received a devastating diagnosis of stage 2 IDC, HER2 Positive breast cancer. Shardell's familial history painted a grim picture, with her grandmother, mother, aunt, and cousin all having battled the same relentless disease. With courage and faith, Shardell faced her diagnosis head-on, knowing that her strength would be tested like never before.

Finding solace and purpose in her struggle, Shardell emerged from the darkness with a newfound determination to help others facing similar battles. Through therapy and self-discovery, she discovered her calling as a mentor and advocate for breast cancer awareness and women's health.

Teaming up with Dr. Lavette Shirley, Shardell co-hosted a successful breast cancer awareness gala fundraiser, honoring fighters, survivors, and those who had lost their lives to the disease. Their partnership evolved to encompass a broader mission of promoting women's health education and empowerment.
